Terms and conditions

1. The IMCA-Awards are open to all non-commercial, non-profit museums, art institutions and galleries. Private museums and foundations can also participate. Biennales and art centres which do not have a permanent collection may also enter. Commercial organisations and art fairs, and commercial galleries cannot participate. Advertising and design agencies can only enter under the name of the museum or institution with whom they have worked.

2. The purpose of the IMCA-Awards is to honour an absolute standard of creative excellence in visual communication. Entries will be judged on the originality of the creative ideas and the quality of their execution.

3. The IMCA-Awards encompass 5 categories: Corporate Design, Exhibition Campaign, Integration and Innovation. The fifth award is the Peers Award (voted by the attendees to the awards ceremony).

4. Both national and international work may compete in each catogory.

5. All entries e.g. logos, posters, catalogues, signage, merchandising, websites etc must have been in USE since 1 January 2005 (they can have been designed before this date).

6. The deadline for the receipt of entries is 28 September 2007.

7. One entry can be comprised of one or several elements (online campaign, logo, poster, direct mail etc) but must all pertain to the SAME campaign / promotion. There is no limit to the number of elements which can be submitted as part of an entry.

8. A pre-selection jury will determine the short-list of finalists that will be submitted to an International Grand Jury of creative experts and museum professionals for final evaluation. Each entrant authorises the organisers to duplicate their entries on video tape or digitally for this purpose and to communicate that their entries are short-listed.

9. The Grand Jury will determine category winners by a numerical scoring system. The Integration and Innovation awards will be selected from the category nominees. It will be attributed by a majority vote of the Grand Jury through a process of progressive elimination.

10. Winners will receive trophies and diplomas. All short-listed entries will receive finalist certificates.

11. The cost of each entry is 250 EUR (287,50 EUR including VAT only for Luxembourg). One entry can be comprised of several elements (online campaign, logo, poster, direct mail, catalogue etc) but each element must pertain to the SAME campaign / promotion. There is no limit to the number of items that may be submitted as an entry.

12. A Summary Form, listing all entries, must be correctly completed by each institution participating in the competition and an Entry Form must be correctly completed for each entry. Instructions included in these forms are part of the rules of the competition.

13. The cost of each entry is 250 EUR (excluding VAT). For Luxembourg, entries subject to VAT will be charged at the VAT rate of 15% making a total of 287,50 EUR. Please note that for payment by cheque we ask for an additional fee of 20 EUR (not subject to VAT) to cover administrative charges. All entries are payable in EUR.

There are three methods of payment.:

1) Secure online payment through the IMCA website.
2) By Bank transfer. If paying by bank transfer please include the name of the museum / art institution / gallery that appears on the Summary Form in your transfer reference description.
3) By cheque for the total amount due in EUR. Cheques require an additional fee of 20 EUR (not subject to VAT) to cover administration charges.

14. All Interactive entries will be judged online and must be submitted with the correct web address (URL). If the URL is no longer active, or if submitting other types of interactive submissions, please send on PC formatted CD Roms. For non-English entries, a written explanation must also be supplied to facilitate the judging process.

15. The organisers will not be held responsible for lost material or for any import or delivery charges.

16. Material entered in the competition will not be returned and may be used by the organisers to publicise the results of the competition.

17. To promote the Awards and secure media coverage for IMCA winners and finalists, each entrant authorises the organisers to copy their entries and to produce images from their projects, where necessary, to appear in books, magazines, and newspapers, and any other media, that publish information on advertising and, or, marketing.

18. Under no circumstances shall the organisers, their authorised representatives be held responsible for the payment of royalties or other charges in connection with the activities for the Imca-Awards. Each entrant agrees that no such claims can be made against the organisers and their authorised representatives.

19. The Jury’s decisions will be final.
