The Awards

Categories

The IMCA will recognise best practice in 4 categories, awarding a trophy and certificate to each winner. Each nominee will receive a certificate.

1. Corporate Design
You are invited to submit any design or campaign developed for your institution. This includes logos, posters, corporate design, online communication, mixed media, advertising campaigns (for corporate identity), catalogues and also business cards and letter head (please note that this list is not exhaustive).

2. Exhibition Campaign
You are invited to submit any design or campaign developed for the promotion of a temporary exhibition. This includes logos, posters, corporate design, online communication, mixed media, advertising campaigns (for corporate identity) and also business cards and letter head (please note that this list is not exhaustive).

Integration
You are not invited to submit to this category. The winner will be selected by the jury from candidates who have submited to BOTH the Corporate Design and Exhibition Campaign categories. This award will judge how successful the Corporate Design and the Exhibition Campaign compliment each other and how well they form a greater marketing whole.

Innovation
You are not invited to submit to this category. The winner will be selected by the jury from all candidates. This award will judge how intuitive and risk taking a campaign has been and whether it has ‘changed the rules’.

There will be a fifth award – the Peers Award – which will be voted for by the attendees to the ceremony on the 29 November. A prize will be awarded.

Eligibility

The Awards are open to non-commercial, non-profit museums, art institutions and galleries. Private museums and foundations can also participate. Biennales and art centres which do not have a permanent collection may also enter. Commercial organisations and art fairs, and commercial galleries cannot participate. Advertising and design agencies can only enter under the name of the museum or institution with whom they have worked.

All work submitted must have been in active use within the past 2 years (since 1 January 2005). This means that a logo, for example, may have been designed in 2001 but has been used at least once in promotion in the time period 1 January 2005 – 28 September 2007.

Closing date

The final date for receiving entries is 28 September 2007

The Jury

A Pre-selection Jury of creative professionals will nominate a short list of projects in each category. All short listed entries will receive finalist certificates.

The short list of nominees in each category will be submitted to an international Grand Jury made up of museum professionals, creative directors and graphic designers. Members of the juries will not be able to vote for nominees from their own agencies or museums.

The winners

The winners will be announced at the official ceremony held on 29 November 2007 in Brussels and later published online. The IMCA book will feature all nominations and winning projects.

Cost of submitting an entry

The cost of each entry is 250 euros (excluding VAT). Different ways of payment are offered.

One entry can be comprised of several elements (online campaign, logo, poster, direct mail etc) but all elements must pertain to the SAME campaign / promotion. There is no limit to the number of elements which can be submitted as part of an entry.
